Job description

As an Application Technologist you are active in the New Product Development team and working closely with our culinary product developer. You will be responsible for the technical aspect of the applications and will be providing solutions for customer specific challenges. You will deep dive into preservation systems, functional ingredients and translate required product properties to specific formulations or process parameters. You will manage trial productions and align feasibility with the quality and production department. You will be reporting to the head of product development.

Your tasks:

  • Pragmatically researching to support developments;
  • Developing and creating prototype samples;
  • Managing development project from lab/kitchen to commercialisation;
  • Drawing up product specifications;
  • Supporting the organization with your technical know-how of ingredients and processes.
  • Managing relations with customers (co-creation), suppliers and research institutes.


You are:

Always curious and motivated to understand how things work. You are eager to learn, without losing focus on the end goal. When someone says it can't be done, you will prove that it can be done. You are personally motivated to improve the food system and consumers' health. You understand and recognize specific properties of ingredients and systems and have the ability to translate them to innovative products.

  • You have a bachelor's or master's degree food technology or similar;
  • You have a few years of experience in food production or research;
  • You have experience with functional ingredients (precedence);
  • You are intrinsically motivated to contribute to the protein transition;
  • You are hands on and creative;
  • You have strong analytical skills;
  • You have strong social and communication skills;
  • You are a team player;
  • You have infinite curiosity;
  • You are fluent in English and basic knowledge of the Dutch language is preferred.

It's important to know:

  • In our production we work with protein rich flours, such as soya. An allergy to soya, legumes or dust will cause issues performing the job.
